Cotton Fields from the Ivory Tower

Runtime: 17:20
Country: United States of America
Language: English, Urdu
Category: Short Documentaries/TV Documentaries

This documentary sheds light on an innovative approach to bridging the crippling chasm that so often exists between the peer reviewed publication of scientific research in academia (Ivory Tower) and real, on-the-ground implementation of the new technology for environmental issues by end users. The story is set in Pakistan where two farmers are interviewed and their struggling lives juxtaposed with that of the protagonist film maker from academia at University of Washington with a proposed solution.

The documentary highlights the need for out-of-the-box approach of deep engagement for sharing scientific research to the world for real world application via deep and human storytelling.
