Solutions for our most pressing global issues come from unexpected places in a film that critics are calling “beautiful," "both art and documentary,” and "a powerful call to action."
Four years in the making, the film weaves breathtaking landscapes and an eclectic original soundtrack together with stories and insights from an inspiring cast of natural farmers, chefs, and teachers who give modern-day relevance to age-old ideas about how to live together with the earth.
Their stories punctuate a majestic journey through Japan, Korea, and the United States that turns our perceptions of food (and life) upside down in a simple and poetic way.
Since 2011, Patrick M. Lydon (USA) and Suhee Kang 강수희 (South Korea) have worked internationally to produce award-winning ecological art and media projects that inspire insightful, empathic relationships between people and the living world around us. During 2015-16, they undertook a 110-date screening tour of the feature-length documentary film “Final Straw,” stopping along the way to produce local community garden and arts projects. They are currently based in Osaka Japan, where they run “The Branch” ecological art lab and pocket farm.
PATRICK is an ecological artist, image-maker, and author who spent several years as a nomad, learning from nature, monks, kids, and elders. He exhibits internationally, and is arts editor for The Nature of Cities (New York). He earned an MFA in Art, Space & Nature from The University of Edinburgh, with previous studies at Aichi University of the Arts, and San Jose State University.
