HEAD JURY: FADLY BAKHTIAR
Fadly Bakhtiar is the leading man as a program director of Ecoknights, an environmental NGO in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The KL-born Programme Director of Ecoknights is highly experienced person as a Festival Director of the International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) and also has vast knowledge and skills in program management, project leadership, and public speaking.
He has successfully driven the flagship programs and efforts for EcoKnights such as Anugerag Hijau (Green Awards), the Knights of Nature Sustainability Camp. He has gracefully led and organized KLEFF, a flagship program event under EcoKnights, now it’s 11th installment and became one of the KLEFF film judges for two consecutive years.
He puts a great emphasis on self-development, in both his professional and personal development. He has trained more than 50 young EcoKnights interns who aspire to contribute to the mainstreaming of sustainability in Malaysia. His leadership and management quality are transparent in his ideas to nurture novel and different ways of thinking from all EcoKnights’ members.
PELF NYOK CHEN
Dr. Chen is a freshwater turtle researcher, conservationist, and co-founder Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS), a non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to the freshwater turtle conservation in Malaysia. The interests in her research are the biology and ecology of the river terrapins-a rare species of freshwater turtles only found in Southern Thailand, Cambodia and Peninsular Malaysia. She is also a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group.
She conducts numerous Turtle Education Programs with school students as well as Turtle Discovery Trips for members of the public and currently leads the community-based terrapin conservation project in Kemaman which was awarded the Commonwealth Points of Light from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.
Elina is the Director, Strategic Communications Officer Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), executing company strategies aiming at including green mindsets, development of green technologies and spurring the green economy. Elina graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Microbiology) and a Master in Biotechnology (Bioprocess Engineering) from University Malaya. She is a life member of several professional societies, among International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Malaysian Biology and Molecular Biology Society, and Malaysian Society for Microbiology.
During her time as the Vice President – Business Development & Investment Division in Malaysian BiotechCorp, Elina Played an integral role in building a conducive environment R&D and industry development for biotechnology in Malaysia, resulting in over RM600 million being channeled into the country.
Recognised for her industry-wide leadership and wealth of experience encompassing technical and business technical and business development portfolios with companies such as Cellsafe International, Pathlab and Institute of Medical Research (IMR) , Elina played a pivotal role in the implementation of Malaysia’s National Biotechnology Policy and the Malaysian Vaccine Program.
