Let’s Play Sape’ – Contemporary Ensemble by Sape’ Star [CANCELLED]


Join this workshop to get hands-on with this Borneo traditional instrument, known as Sape’. This workshop will be taught with Sape’star Sape’ Method with printed notes & notation for easy learning. Participants will learn to perform contemporary Sape’ tune as a Sape’ Ensemble. Get the up-close opportunity to be immersed in the rhythm of the indigenous communities of the highland.

About Saufi Aiman Yahya (Sape’ Star Founder and Award-Winning Musician)

Saufi was born in Kuching Sarawak on 13 November 1990. He started his involvement in playing traditional music since 2006. Graduated with Diploma in Music from UiTM and Bachelor of Applied and Creative Arts (Arts Management) from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Saufi Aiman is actively performing and teaching Sape in Kuching & Kuala Lumpur. In 2017, He represents the country to compete in the 21st World Championship of Performing Arts in California, U.S.A and bagged 3 Champion of the World Award, 4 Gold Medals & 1 Silver Medal for Instrumentalist Category. He is also the founder of Sape’Star, with the aim of teaching and educates people about Sape’ through classes & workshops, promoting and sells Sape’ globally and had partnered with TGS Academy – Kuchai Lama (KL) to set up a Sape’ Hub in Kuala Lumpur.
