In the last one month, we have gone to another three universities for our roadshows. The purpose of this roadshow is not only to communicate and share about KLEFF, but at the same time organise a compact film making workshop with our film making & media partner, Stranger Connection Media (SCM) as well as introducing two special categories for this year’s competition, brought to you by River of Life (ROL) and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The roadshow-cum-workshop aims to enhance the student’s awareness and knowledge on the topics and provide platform for the students to connect and network with the experts.
Time flies, and we are now in our second half of the year, which is also happens to be the busiest half of our year.
For three months we traveled around to places especially higher institutions, and talk to the youths about the importance of message, their voice to be heard, the stories and their perspectives on the issues we all should care about: the environment.
On the 30th June 2018, the submission for all other categories are closed, except for the RSPO Special category which is on the 15th July. Besides that, we are currently reviewing all film submissions, which nearly reached 200 films, you know what that means? It means that our four juries for this year will be spending their weeks watching and reviewing films, to pick the best for you. The list of Top 5 finalists for every category for will be announced on 25th July onwards.
In January 2018 when we announced the festival’s theme for the first time, we were looking forward to receive and present films emphasizing on the themes of KLEFF: Climate Change, River and Forest. We feel strongly about it and we hope the issue is becoming more and more critical.
Some other good news is that we have received more than 80 KLEFF poster submissions, for the poster competition, which the finalist results will be also announced on 25th July. Green Market will be opened for application in mid July, so watch out for this space. Lastly, a new section called Act for SDGs in which KLEFF collaborates with other organisations and individuals is now in the finalisation phase and these community-driven activities will be announced in in our next edition.
That’s all for now from me, till next month!
Yours Fabulously, FABS
